
81 of Phoenix, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 27, 2016, from complications of pneumonia. He was born March 14, 1934 in St. Joseph, Missouri. John was the oldest of four children of Anthony and Helen Lauer. He graduated from St Mary’s Elementary School in 1948 and St. Mary’s High School in 1952. John served in the United States Army, serving in Korea. He was employed 30 years with the City of Phoenix Engineering Department. John is survived by his loving wife Donna and his five children, John Jr. (Jody), Janiece Barros (Richard), James (Michelle), Joseph (Patrice), Jeffrey (Elva), his siblings Patricia DeBusk, Mary Lissak (Mike), Bill (Cathy), 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that loved him. Visitation will be Monday, February 1st from 6-8 P.M., with a Rosary at 7 P.M., at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 2nd at 10 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 3140 N. 51ST Ave., Phoenix. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
