LE GRAS, NINA MARIE

June 7, 2013 Leave A Condolence

LE

Nina Marie Le Gras, of Phoenix, died Monday morning, June 3, 2013, just 10 days short of her 99th birthday.   Nina was born in Flaxville, Montana, to Walter and Anna May Cox.  Her family travels took her across the U.S. until settling in Ahwahnee, California, where many of her favorite childhood memories took place.  Nina attended four years at University of California at Berkeley where she studied Business, English, and Journalism.  She went on to a career in the produce industry, moving to Phoenix in 1940.   Later, she worked as administrative assistant at Central Methodist Church in Phoenix.  Nina was a gifted artist and teacher of stained glass and ceramics while living at the Eastern Star Retirement Home.  Volunteering was a passion for Nina, especially with children. She was an active member of Vision Hill Community Church and the Congregational Church of the Valley in Scottsdale.  Nina’s faith and outlook on life taught us all tremendous lessons.  “The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts…” was a quote by which she lived her life.  Nina is survived by her son, David Cox, of Tampa, FL, grandson, Joshua Cox of Phoenix, AZ, granddaughter, Ashley Cox Chinavare, Colorado.  She also leaves behind 2 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.  Nina is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anna May Cox, and her sisters, Pearl, Vernon, and Doris.  A Memorial Service will be held at the Beatitudes Campus, Life Center, 1610 W. Glendale, Ave. Phoenix, Wednesday, June 12th at 10am.  Donations may be made in Nina’s memory to:  Crisis Nursery, 2334 East Polk St., Phoenix, AZ  85006, www.crisisnurseryphx.org
