LEAL, CARRIE SIERRA

February 22, 2023 Leave A Condolence

Carrie Sierra Leal

Carrie S. Leal, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023 in her home at the age of 89. Carrie was born on January 20, 1934 in Phoenix, AZ, to Haviel and Fidela Sierra. She retired from Motorola in 2007 after 35 years of working in their Quality Assurance Division as a QA Analyst.

She was extremely committed to her Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church where she attended mass weekly for the past 65 years. She loved to watch the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Cowboys games. She was a loyal friend to many, especially her circle of friends from her childhood, neighborhood, and employment from Motorola and she enjoyed getting together with them frequently to have lunch.

Those that knew her experienced first-hand her sweet personality, heart of gold, and how passionate she was about spending quality time with her family. The love for her family can never be replaced and will always be remembered.

She is survived by her three children, Marie Erickson (Bob), Thomas Leal and Mark Leal; her seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Robert Sierra; and Ernest Sierra (Marie). She is preceded in death by her parents, Haviel and Fidela Sierra; her son, Robert Leal; her sister, Gloria Sierra; and her brother, Gilbert Sierra.

A visitation and rosary for Carrie will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road. Her funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 400 N. 30th Street, followed by burial service at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street.
