LENZ, MARIE

July 16, 2013 2 Condolences

LENZ,

Marie Lenz, The widow of Don Lenz passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, July 13, 2013 only four blocks away from where she was born. She was born Eugenia Marie Gass on July 2, 1917 in her downtown Phoenix, Arizona home. She was a veteran from having served as a Navy WAVE during World War II. Her youthful disposition was responsible for her creativity and curiosity…..And those who knew her knew she was a force to be reckoned with! She married the love of her life in December 1969 and they painted their life together for nearly 25 years. She learned to play the piano at the age of 70; she handcrafted numerous 100% hand sewn quilts. She was always a gracious host and loving family member. “She was a woman who was always there when she was needed”. She is survived by two nephews, James Elliott and Thomas Elliott of Tucson, one niece Virginia Higgins and her niece-in-law Norma Elliott of Phoenix and many more loving family members. Rosary/Scripture Service will be held Friday, July 19th, 2013 at 11am at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E Indian School Rd, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
