January 28, 1958 – February 27, 2023

Rick was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona February 27, 2023, in the comfort of his home. Rick moved to Arizona in 1985 where he held a career in the Automotive Industry.

Rick Lepowsky is survived by his wife of 34 years of a loving marriage, Janet Lepowsky, children, Melissa, Alex, Breana, & Makenna, grandchildren, Will, Nora, and a new granddaughter expected this month, his mother, Patricia Reams, brothers & sisters; Larry (Robbin), Pam (John), Tiger (Renee), Gary (Patti), Scott (Maylou), Ronny, Heidi (Tom), Lisa (Elias), Renee (Jarrett), and all his beautiful nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Brenson Lepowsky, stepfather Howard Sweirs, and sister Cheryl Sweirs.

Rick was an accomplished man with many hobbies in life. Working in the car industry for 25-plus years was one of his greatest feats. He took pride in what he did and was a pillar and influence on many in this industry. The house was always filled with coworkers and friends for the grand parties he would throw for events, especially the Super Bowl. Rick took much pride in his family and provided guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love, as well as being the dynamo that steered them. Rick was an exceptionally hard worker and driven man. His resilience outshined every challenge he faced. Rick was loved by many in his community, as he left a lasting impact on every person he encountered. He was quick to make friends and In Rick, you had a loyal friend for life. He made friends with many neighbors and enjoyed morning walks with Bob and sharing laughs with Mary and Sandy. Rick Loved animals, as he grew up on a farm in his youth in Wayzata, MN. He enjoyed gardening, and once built an entire greenhouse with a water system, for his girls which is one of their favorite memories with him. Dad spent many weekends golfing. Rick loved music, and he could carry a tune.

He enjoyed all types of music with some favorite artists being Neil Young, Willy Nelson, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash. As many knew, he was a walking jukebox; he would even throw some rap and original freestyles accompanied by excellent dance skills into the mix. He was a storyteller, poet, and romantic in life, making sure to always go out of his way to surprise his loved ones with short poems, compliments, and gestures. Janet would wake up to a love note or poem every morning with her cup of coffee. He carried a very large and kind heart, with a tender soul that never ran out of space to love others. He loved to be of service and help people. His favorite place was Bartlett Lake in Arizona, where he would take his jeep off-roading, his boat fishing, and his family camping. Rick took in everything life had to offer, he had a love and thirst for excitement. Rick was a prankster and his clever humor was enjoyed immensely, there will be much less laughter without his presence. His appreciation for the life around him was infectious as he could lighten every place he visited. Rick was a mighty force that would affect every person in the room.

Rick was a joyous father and family man, his affirmations and kindness were a gift to receive, his departure has left a great void in our hearts.  You are loved in the truest of forms. Rest in Peace Ricky Dean.

I wrote this for my dad, in hopes his spirit could sense how much he is loved and missed. This is a little something extra because he would always add a little something extra too. When you encounter someone as special as Rick, always cherish that person. Because God takes the special ones young, and quick. Dad you will always be loved and you have a huge space in my heart where you can live.

Uncle Rick always made me laugh and smile. One of my favorite memories was visiting with him and Janet while we lived in Arizona. We would get together for dinner and he was always full of stories to tell and new projects to show us. As a child I loved visiting their house, as a young adult uncle Rick took care of me when I came into town, and as an adult he was quick to reach out and tell me he loved me. All my love to the family and friends that will feel his physical loss.
Thanks for watching over us all now. ❤️✨

Rick and I were very competitive and we had a few fights and a lot of laughs and pushed the dealership to a top store in the nation. He always had a joke or an angle that was different we went from a strong rivalry to friends. So strange he died on my birthday. My heart gos out to his loving wife and family
