LOFTIS, MARY LOU (LORTS)

August 31, 2015 Leave A Condolence

LOFTIS,

80, of Scottsdale, Arizona, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on August 23, 2015.  Mary Lou was born March 8, 1935 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Andrew and Rosella Lorts, who preceded her in death.  The family moved to Arizona in 1948, where Mary Lou attended St. Francis Grade School and St. Mary’s High School.  Mary Lou was a talented painter, seamstress and avid reader who loved to golf and garden.  She was a proud founding member of the Scottsdale Chapter of Teresians. She was preceded in death by son Andrew Otter and sister Patricia Harris.    Survived by her children, son Dennis Otter and daughters Linda (David) Hopkins and Sloane Hansen, along with daughter-in-law Teresa Otter Pfaff, husband William S. Loftis, and her first husband and father to her four children, Gene Otter, grandchildren, Joel, Ben, David and Jeremy Otter, Marissa and Connor Hopkins and Raina and Race Hansen and Race’s girlfriend Julie Rosa, sisters Dottie (Pete) Beam, Madeline (Vince) Cardinal, Kathleen (Jim) Johnston, Beverly (Boyd) Bertrand and brothers Harry (Cheryl) Lorts and Mike (Sylvia) Lorts.  Mary Lou is also survived by dozens of loving nieces and nephews.  Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 10815 N. 84th Street, Scottsdale, AZ.  Interment will follow at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix.
