Fischer, Lorraine Marie
74, passed away peacefully July 17th, 2009 in the loving care of Arizona’s Hospice of the Valley, surrounded by family and close friends. Born Lorraine Marie Popp in Glen Haven, MI on April 29th 1935 She was one of eleven children of Winifred and Herman Popp. Lorraine moved to Portland and met her husband of 53 years Charles E. Fischer. They had five loving children and nine grandchildren. She retired after 30 years of service at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon and retired to Phoenix, AZ in 2001. She is survived by, siblings Bob, Louie, Joanne, loving husband Charles E. Fischer, children; Edward, Steve, Richard, Robert & Veronica, grandchildren; Callie, Kasey, Matthew, Sean, Ian, Anthony, Bernadette, Luke & Amelia.
Lorraine spent most of her adult life in Portland, and will be remembered as a loving mother and wife with interests in the arts, music, bible study, Louie Lamoure books, and looking for the ultimate crossword puzzle, but her most fulfilling moments will be remembered around the family dinner table. Our most fulfilling moments were her unconditional love and acceptance of anyone and everyone who entered our lives. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, July 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11001 N. 40th Street, Phoenix. Interment will follow at 10:30 A.M. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
