Mary Elaine Malone

was reunited with her husband Kevin E. Malone in Heaven on July 24, 2012. Mary was born on February 12, 1941 in New York City. She was the oldest daughter of J. Robert and Catherine Pierson who predeceased her. Mary is survived by her siblings Robert Pierson (Pat) of Novi, Michigan and Kathy Pidgeon (Steve) of Paradise Valley. Mary was the proud and devoted aunt of Tyler, Greg and Austin Pidgeon and Dawn Thomas. She was the loving God Mother of Tyler Pidgeon and Danny Lawlor. Mary graduated Bryant High School and attended Queens College in NY. She was the office manager of the Watson Wyatt Company in NYC for more than 30 years and moved to Phoenix from Queens, NY in 2001 to be closer to her sister Kathy and her nephews. Mary volunteered at Ss. Simon & Jude School where she loved working in the library and assisting the Loreto Sisters and especially Sister Raphael whom Mary deeply admired. She loved all sports and especially the Phoenix Suns and Brophy Broncos. Mary was extremely generous and Christmas morning will never be the same without her beautifully wrapped presents. Mary stared down her cancer diagnosis with courage and dignity. She was so thankful to Hospice of the Valley for their love and care and especially the staff of The Coronado House where she lived out her final days. Her family is so grateful to Hospice of the Valley for their guidance and love. Mary’s faithful puppy Nicky remained by her side throughout her final days. Mary’s Funeral Mass was held at Brophy Chapel on Friday July 27th. She will be buried in Farmingdale, NY beside her beloved husband Kevin and her parents. In lieu of flowers Mary’s wish was that donations be made to the Help A Student Fund at Ss. Simon & Jude School, 6351 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85017 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
