Torres, Maria Dolores Burruel
The Torres Family is deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Maria Dolores “Lola” Torres. She was born in Winkelman, AZ, in 1923. In 1942, Dolores and a dear friend were the first Mexican American young women to graduate from Scottsdale High School. She resided most of her remaining life in Phoenix where she worked and raised her family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roy, brother, Jose Burruel, daughter, Carmen, sons, Manuel and Joe, fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Our dearest is preceded in death by her sorely missed sons Arthur and George, brother, Manuel as well as her beloved mother, Carmen. Our mother will be forever in our hearts as her memory lives in our spirits and her love remains in our lives. Our mother was a deeply caring, loving and nurturing person. All people with a need that she could reach knew her to be a great woman with all the best qualities that God can give. We will miss you forever. “See Ya” in heaven. Services will be Monday at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 400 N. 30th Street, Phoenix with Visitation from 9:30-10:30am., Rosary at 10:30am, and a Mass of Celebration at 11:00am. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
