Josie Martinez

Josie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. She was born on January 12, 1943 in Tempe, AZ to Andrea and Rafael Ramirez. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ralph Martinez, her sister Mary (John) Ruiz; and her brother David (Dora) Ramirez. Josie worked for Motorola for 36 years. After retirement, she worked at St. Catherine of Siena Parish where she was a devoted parishioner, teaching Religious Education and volunteering wherever she was needed. A godmother to 13, Josie had a special love for her godchildren. She was also a wonderful aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm, with a Rosary at 7pm, Wednesday, September 5, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Thursday, September 6, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 6600 S. Central Avenue, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
