
Mary Ann Barlette, 87, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully at her home on March 5, 2009. Mary Ann was born on March 24, 1921 to Bartolo and Concetta in Amsterdam, New York. She was the 2nd eldest of seven daughters. While living in Amsterdam, she started a successful career in the Fashion Industry both as a buyer and in retail sales. She worked many years for Holzheimers and Shaul. She married the love of her life, Nicholas, in l950. She and her husband moved to Arizona in l968. She continued her successful career in the Fashion Industry working for Diamonds Dillards until she retired. She received many awards for her work. Mary Ann had a wonderful way of making people feel special and loved. Any strangers she met, left as friends. She was very thoughtful, warm and always took the time to care. She loved to laugh, loved to smile and always had jokes and stories to tell. She was hospitable, loved to cook and was very generous. Since not blessed with her own children, she considered her nieces and nephews as her children. She enjoyed life and wanted others to enjoy it too. Her faith in God was evident in the way she lived her life. Mary Ann is survived by her sister Grace Elmy of Amsterdam, New York; her two step-daughters and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and five sisters. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held Monday, March 16, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 pm with a Scripture Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Az. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 10:00 am, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, Az. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
