John William “Jack” McKone, passed away peacefully at his home on October 12, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He was the son of Olivette and John McKone and was born December 17, 1937 in Phoenix, Arizona at the old St. Joseph’s Hospital. Jack attended Saint Francis Xavier Grammar School, where in the First grade, he met the love of his life Mary Anne Romley. Jack later attended Saint Mary’s High School and went on to study at Arizona State University. While there, Jack joined the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and worked at McDougall & Cassou men’s clothier in downtown Phoenix. Upon completion from the university, he married Mary Anne at Brophy Chapel on December 27, 1958. Jack enlisted in the Army and the newly married couple moved to Petersburg, Virginia for a short time. They returned to Phoenix six months later, where he began his life-long career with IDS Financial, now known as Ameriprise for 48 years. He was the proud Father of three sons, whom he adored.
Jack was a member of the 100 Club, and a Life member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds, where in later years he ran the infamous “Program Booth” at the Phoenix Open, which is now known as the WM Phoenix Open. He was always a familiar and friendly face who had a smile for the many folks who were lucky enough to cross his path!
Jack’s Catholic faith and his family were his #1 priority. He was a loyal friend and confidant to many and his quick wit and contagious laugh was always adored by everyone he met. Jack was the proud Grampa to 8 grandchildren; Tommy (Jenny), Kelsey, Molly, Katy, Courtney, Ally, Sam, Jack and a great grandchild, Brady. He was always quick to tell them how proud he was of them and showered them with boundless love and encouragement, just as he had done with his sons.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Oly and Jack, his infant sister, Ann and his sister Mary Virginia Hines. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Anne, his three adoring sons Kelly (Sue), Tim and Danny, his sister JoAnn O’Louglin (John), his Grandchildren and Great Grandson.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary Prayer at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Brophy Chapel, 4701 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. at Brophy Chapel. A Private Burial will take place at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.

Mary Anne,
Jack embodied the adage my father passed to me, “You don’t treat the other person as a gentleman because he’s one but because you’re one”. His smile and contagious laugh will stay with me along with the memory of how he always treated me like a brother. He is missed.
You and the boys are in my prayers.
John
