Simone G Merwin

91 years young, left to be with our Lord on September 16, 2011. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born in Canada, the oldest of 11 children, and moved to New York State at a young age. She married Donald W. Merwin who was serving in the U. S. Army, and they traveled the world together. Simone settled in Phoenix in 1963 and loved it here. Simone was very active in her church and was an avid Ballroom dancer (3 times a week), and enjoyed coffee with her friends. She did not know a stranger and was loved by all she met. She touched many lives in her time on earth. She is survived by her children, Dorine Swayze, Richard Merwin and Barbara Castillo, 3 grandchildren and her brothers John Granger, Bobby Granger and her best friend her sister Martha Orosz. Simone lived a rich full life and brought smiles to many faces. She will be missed by many, but will always be with us in our hearts. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm with a 7:00pm Scripture Service Thursday, September 22nd, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am, Friday, September 23rd, at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 3140 N. 51st Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
