MESICK, ELAINE “LANEY”

October 11, 2016 Leave A Condolence

MESICK,

Elaine “Laney” Mesick 68, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 9, 2016, after her 10-year struggle with lymphoma ended peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. Though her body ultimately succumbed to lymphoma, her spirit never did. In the years since her diagnosis, she refused to despair or complain, fighting the disease with everything she had and embracing all that life had to offer. She is survived by her sister Sharon, niece and nephew Jami and Erik, and great-nieces and nephews whom she adored: Liliana, Sofia, Emeline, and Micah. Laney served as a senior center Director for The Salvation Army during her entire 30+ year professional career and had a true gift and love for helping senior citizens. Laney liked to collect angel figurines and her house was overflowing with them by the time she passed away. Imagine her joy now that she gets to meet the angels in person!  She was fiercely independent and unfailingly kind. She will be missed very much by all of her family and friends. Visitation will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 14, 2016. Graveside Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Greenwood Memory Lawn, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix.
