Manuella K. Mills passed away on November 11, 2017. She was born in Phoenix, AZ on August 26, 1925 to Burleigh Rideau and Amelia Ray. She attended Saint Mary’s High School and graduated from Arizona State University in 1948. Manuella taught elementary school for over 25 years. Manuella was married to Billie Mills for 58 years, who preceded her in death. Manuella is survived by daughters, Gioia Neal (Ronald Neal), Lise Mills, Denise Mills (Cordell Conway) and sisters, Lilly “Mikki” Rideau Crawford and Mary Rideau, brothers, Donnie and Charlie Rideau, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held on December 2nd at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church located at 809 S. 7th Avenue, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Office of Black Catholic Ministries, Diocese of Phoenix, 400 E. Monroe, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.

    You guys know Nonie was my surrogate mother while I was there.
    We all have fond memories of her though we are grateful she is at peace. Wish I could be there with you. you know I am there in spirit.

    Moms are special. they leave a big empty spot in our hearts when they move on. But they are always there to ‘listen’ when we need them. All my love to Gioia and her family.
