Charles E. “Chuck” Misfeldt, 82, of Scottsdale passed away on Monday December 15, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Delia “Dee Dee” and Charles Misfeldt.

Chuck attended Hoover High School in Glendale, California. After four years of service in the Marines as a pilot, he moved to Arizona along with his new bride Janice and enrolled at ASU to major in industrial engineering. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. In June of 1961 during his senior year at ASU, he opened his first restaurant near Rural and Apache roads called the Varsity Inn Pizza Parlor. He went on to develop numerous restaurant concepts across the mid-west and was owner of the Top Shelf Mexican Cantina’s, First Watch of Arizona breakfast restaurants and Gallagher’s Sports Grills here in the Valley.

Chuck loved to be surrounded by his family and friends and always found a way to do so. He and Janice designed their dream home in Scottsdale to be a harbor for entertaining & celebrating good times and holidays. As an ASU Football season ticket holder, Chuck loved tailgating with his friends and family and cheering on his beloved Sun Devils. As an outdoorsman he always enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and business partners. Chuck also enjoyed traveling with his family and loved spending summers relaxing with both family and friends in Laguna Beach, CA.

Predeceased by his parents and his sister Jo Ann, he is survived by his beautiful wife of 56 years, Janice, his three children, Beth and Jeff Rons, Brian and Renee Misfeldt and Jennifer and Darren Mills along with his three adored grandchildren, Hailey Rons, Jake and Brogan Mills, his step-sister Linda and Robert Avalone and his numerous nieces/nephews.

I have tried many times to get in touch with you over the years. Today I determined would be my contact day. I googled you and Chuck and I sadly found his obituary. My love and condolences to you, Beth, Brian, and Jenny. I would like to speak with you if possible so will try again the number I have always had for you. Hope I reach you but if not, please know I hold you close to my heart.

Janice; I just now googled Chuck and was shocked and saddened to find the obituary. The last time we spoke I was mushroom hunting here on our property known as the Garden of Eden. I ask him for his address so I could send him the write up on our log home. As I am sure you know we spent many happy times together and especially enjoyed time in the airplane. He also spent a night in our lodge at G of E and liked to remind me of the shotgun I left with him for protection but with no ammunition. I hope all is well with you and family. We still have a daughter and son-in-law living in Paradise Valley so maybe You, Ann and I can get together at some point.

Sincerely, Jim Houx
