Joan and CD Mitchell were kinder to me in my life than anybody has ever been except for my own family. I’ve known them since I was a kid, so I’ve known Don and Julie a long, long time. My heart is broken for them, for Mr. Mitchell too.

I remember all the fun I had over at 38th place in my younger years. Joan always kept the conversation going. CD could be counted on to deliver a dry one-liner that would absolutely break me up. Just last year I had the pleasure of sitting with the family at Don’s party. We had a lot of laughs, we really did. Most of them were provided by Julie.

Joan, you were a kind and caring wife and mother, and a wonderful human being. Thank you for everything you did for me.

    With sympathy,
    Michael McShane
