MITTELSTAEDT, MARJORIE C

February 15, 2013 Leave A Condolence

In Memorial

Deloris Mittelstaedt was born on January 11, 1926 in Glen Cross, South Dakota to Fred and Katherine Mattern, and passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on February 12, 2013 surrounded by her family. Deloris moved to Phoenix in 1952 and married Warren Mittelstaedt at the Brophy Chapel on October 11, 1952. Deloris and Warren raised four sons and Deloris was active in all of their activities, many of which were centered on St. Francis Xavier School and Brophy Prep. Deloris was a terrific wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met; however, she would tell you that her most important role was being Grandma D to her six loving grandchildren. She was also a legendary cook and her cookies, scones, banana bread and peanut brittle will be missed by everyone. Deloris was preceded in death by her husband Warren, her brother Harvey Mattern of Fresno, California and her sister Charlotte Gilchrest of San Antonio, Texas. Deloris is survived by her sister Irene Bardell of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her sons Jan (DeeDee), Reed (Beth), and Drew (Annie), all of Phoenix, and Mark (Jessica) of Tucson; and her grandchildren Rachel Dhaenens (Seth), Brett, Amy, Paige Rogers (Matt), Matt and Maddie, all of Phoenix. At Deloris’ request, services will be private; anyone wishing to make a contribution in her memory should direct them to the St. Francis Xavier Parish Building Fund or the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
