Of Tempe, AZ, 52, passed away on June 18, 2014. She was born to Gilbert and Rosalie Montanez in Phoenix, AZ on August 27, 1961. She attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and then went on to graduate from Tempe High School. Maria loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Maria is survived by her two children; Robert and Kristina Montanez, brothers; Gil, Mark, John, Michael and Paul, sisters; Annie and Julie, two grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert, and mother, Rosalie. A Celebration of Life will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018 at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 29, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

I was very sorry to hear the news from Paul. Maria was always very nice. I did not get to see her during recent years but I remember her always in the room when you mother was scolding Paul and I for the latest trouble we were in. She had a great laugh and was always fun to talk to. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
