93, of Phoenix, peacefully passed away at his home on December 27, 2013. William was born on January 9, 1920 in Lovilia, Iowa the youngest of 5 children of William and Catherine Morrissey. He graduated on December 20, 1943 from Creighton University Medical School. He then served in the US Army as a physician in WWII until 1945. William is preceded in death by his first wife Maryanne Kelly. William practiced as an Internal Medicine Physician in Des Moines, Iowa until the late 1970’s. He then established a practice of medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. He married Shirley Ergenbright in August 1978. Shirley and Bill were married for 35 years. They were active golf members of the Phoenix Country Club for many years.  Shirley preceded William in death on September 20, 2013. William is survived by his daughter Barbara Fuss McLaughlin (David), grandchildren Kelly Dutton (Damon), Gretchen Lipman (Dan), Matthew (Anya), great-granddaughters, Elizabeth & Brook and step-daughter Anne Ergenbright Thomas (Matthew S. Thomas deceased).  A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central Ave., Phoenix on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at La Siena, 909 E. Northern Ave., Phoenix on the same day at 12:00 P.M.  Family requests donations to Catholic Community Foundation, 400 E. Monroe St., Phoenix, AZ  85004.  Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
