Carole Jean Winiker Muir, born February 5, 1938, in Mojave, CA to James H. Winiker and Marietta Ritchie Winiker.
Carole Muir passed peacefully at home on March 25, 2021 with beloved husband John Muir at her side.
Carole’s earliest years were lived in the Philippine Islands where she and her family spent three years as Prisoners of War in the city of Manila.
After returning to the states, she grew up and attended school in Ajo, AZ. Carole and husband John lived in Phoenix with an intervening 2 years in Australia. On March 2, 2021 they celebrated their 60th anniversary.
Carole raised four children: James (Sonya), Charles (Franny), Vanessa (Benno) and John. She leaves eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and her brother Dick Winiker.
Carole loved to laugh, knew no strangers, had a gift for creating friendships, and was caring and supportive to family and friends, many of whom she met during her years in the front office at Creighton Elementary School and at Kitchen Classics.
She created a home where many gathered, and everyone was welcomed to stay for a glass of wine or dinner. She also made friends everywhere she went, she made many long-time friends of the workers at her favorite stores and never missed an opportunity to share a laugh or smile to brighten their days.
Carole was both rock and glue for her family and like all loved sisters, wives, and mothers will be sorely missed.
No services are planned. Memorial to be held at a later date.

Dear Muir Family,
Your mom was truly a GREAT LADY that welcomed all in the Creighton School office. She and my mom were friends and my mother, Sally Zapien, always said work at Creighton and the PTA were so much fun with Carole around! May your memories bring you comfort at this difficult time. Our family will always remember Carole with a smile on her face and an exuberance that was truly infectious. May she rest in God’s peace and love.

I have the best memories of Carole. So many years after grade school was come and gone I would see Carole at Walgreens, or Costco. I loved seeing her big smile and always felt I was being greeted by a great friend. My thoughts and prayers are with the Muir family!!

In Australia we only had a few years getting to know our cousin John’s wife. It felt very exotic having an American relative & Carole warmed to our family so quickly. A very lovely lady. Our hearts are with John & all his family.

Jim,
Your mother was beautiful, with an amazing smile snd laugh. Her friendship with my mother was greatly appreciated. Some amazing women lived in our neighborhood. Your Mom was part of the village that helped to raise us.
May Heavenly Father wrap his loving arms around your family to provide peace to you and your family.
Much love,
Sharon
