His smile is forever ingrained in my mind. What a fine man and mentor. My favorite memory: Uncle Ed, my Dad; Al Moore and Tommy Cavanagh in the back of Brophy Chapel readying for the funeral of Herb Drinkwater ….. the three of them … got to telling jokes to each other, they were really cutting up, and I had to sushhhhh them, soundly, they looked at me like 3 little boys who knew they’d best hush, and now! They did. Uncle Ed thank you for all the lessons and your example of how to live life with faith and grace……til we meet again…with our love yo your family and associates….

Ed continues to inspire unconditional love and generosity through the wonderful examples he’s given. His humor and the gift of his exceptional children lighten the sadness of his passing. What a blessing to have known him.

Although I never met Mr Murphy, I do know his lovely daughter Maureen. She always spoke with such love and joy when telling me about her father. He has left an amazing legacy behind through Maureen, as I’m sure he has with every one of his family members and dear friends. Rejoice in your peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus, Mr Murphy!

Ed was a wonderful under-taker and a true gentleman through and through. I loved our rides to the cemetery in the “coach” on the way to committals. You could talk about anything with him, his common sense, sense of humor and wealth of stories as well as knowledge of history made him always fascinating. Sometimes he would put his “priest” hat on and give a little bit of advice and “absolution.” “Don’t worry father, it will all work out!” was usually his bottom line. Requiescat in Pace Thanks for your caring friendship and faithfulness! Fr. Pat

Ed MURPHY was a prince of a gentleman! He was always ready to discuss church politics and the way it use to be before Vatican II. Over the years we had some spirited discussions which always ended with smiles.Ed always made me feel cared for and respected as a part of the Whitney Murphy team. During the time that I worked at Whitney Murphy I observed Ed as a gentle caring man having sincere empathy for the families he worked with. REQUIESCAT IN PACEM ED. You are much respected and loved.! Ed was so good to us when Mom and Dad died 15 years ago. He had been a family friend who then had to switch roles to comfort us and guide us professionally, despite the toll on him – what a man! Saw him at Mt. claret recently and he was as smiling as ever – what a joy!

My deepest condolences to the Murphy clan. Mr. Murphy was a dear, sweet man and a pillar of the Phoenix and Catholic Community. He was beloved by many, and most especially by the Angulo, Culling, and Balderas families. Mr. Murphy was especially kind and supportive when I myself had to plan my own infant daughter’s burial. God Bless this Wonderful Man, keep him and let him rest in peace. Truly an individual who touched MANY lives. My thoughts and prayers go out to his beloved family.
