Ramon “Ray” Duarte Nieto, 80, of Scottsdale AZ, born in Phoenix to Clara Pimbert and Matias and Gabriela Nieto. He had 21 brothers and sisters. He attended AZ Boys Ranch, Chandler High School, Phoenix College and ASU. Ramon joined the US Army from 1962 – 1965. After 43 years he retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2004. He was a past member of the American Legion Post 41 and a current member of Post 29. He was a long time Supporter of the Legion Riders. Ramon is survived by 4 children, Ramon M. Nieto, Roman Nieto, Tina Nieto-Alvarez and Gina Nieto-Trujillo. 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 1 brother and 6 sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00pm with a Rosary at 6pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E Indian School Rd in Phoenix. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church. 1030 N Hayden Rd. Scottsdale.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at St Francis Cemetery. *** Day of Funeral please wear all black. That was my Dad’s color.**
A Celebration of Life (Pot Luck) to follow immediately at the American Legion Post 29, 6822 N 57th Dr. Glendale, AZ 85301 in the Bingo Hall from 1pm to 4pm.
