Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Allen

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Allen, 89 years young, passed gracefully into the arms of Jesus Christ on June 15th, 2023 in Cottonwood, Arizona.

A second-generation Phoenix native, Betty lived in Phoenix her entire life. She attended Emerson School, St Francis Xavier school, and St. Mary’s all girls Catholic High School.

Betty Ann fell in love with Albert “Al” Allen and joined together in the covenant of marriage at the age of 18. Al and Betty, a match made in heaven, spent their life together raising their family in Phoenix, Arizona.

Betty Ann, alongside her beloved husband Al, served as Lay Moderator for the Parish Youth Organization at SS Simon & Jude Catholic church for a number of years. She also participated in leadership prayer gatherings for the parish.

Betty loved music. She started her love for music performance playing the accordion at age 5 with her grandfather, Doc Stults, and went on to learn the piano and even perform the original version of The Flight of the Bumblebee on the piano in eighth grade.

In addition to being a full-time mother and housewife, Betty spent much of her free time sewing clothes the old-fashioned way utilizing patterns and hand sewing techniques. She loved creating clothes for her family, neighbors, and dance recitals. Her skills also included embroidering and knitting.

Betty Ann was well loved among neighbors. She occasionally held part-time jobs and eventually retired from the Madison School District administration department.

Betty Ann was predeceased in death by her husband of 42 years, Albert C. Allen, her parents Embrey and Martha Stults and brother Embrey Stults III. She is survived by her daughter Peggy Ferguson, sons Michael Allen and James Allen, three grandchildren Tim Allen, Chelsea Ferguson, and Maya Pennock and three great-grandchildren Kahlan, Everette, and Sage.
