Andrew "AJ" James Smith

Andrew James Smith, 29, of Scottsdale, Arizona, was born on November 17, 1996 and passed away on June 10, 2026 in a car accident.

Born and raised in Scottsdale, AJ attended Cheyenne Traditional School (2002-2011), graduated from Chaparral High School (Class of 2015), and spent his life in the community he loved. He is survived by his parents, Todd and Patty Smith; sisters, Emily Smith and Alison Bishop; brother-in-law Hayden Bishop; his cherished nieces, Miley, Everly, and Grace; and his beloved grandmother Joan Christianson. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends who hold a special place in his heart.

Over the course of his life, AJ worked a variety of jobs but his greatest love was blending his entrepreneurial spirit with his passion for golfing and the resale market. He was known for his adventurous nature, easy-going personality, and willingness to say “yes” to fun. He loved fishing, playing golf, shooting pool, snowboarding, and water sports. He was an avid game player, music lover, and always had a sweet tooth and party trick up his sleeve. He cherished spending time with his people and enjoyed simple moments like grabbing a bite to eat at one of his favorite spots.

More than anything, AJ will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him. His sense of humor, kind heart, and love for his family and friends will forever live on through cherished memories.

A memorial service will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home in Phoenix, Arizona on June 20, 2026 at 2pm. He will be laid to rest alongside his family in Thompson, Iowa in July.

AJ will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
