With sadness, love, yet profound gratitude, the family of Anthony “Tony” Garcia Losada announces his peaceful homecoming into eternal life on September 26, 2026. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Marybelle and Benigno Losada on January 17, 1939, and was the youngest of three children. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, which became one of the many core influences in his life that fostered his gifts of curiosity, spirituality, creativity, and overall desire to build meaningful relationships with others. Over the years Tony developed his skills as a talented and adored barber by many. His clients became his life-long companions, leaving their visits not only with the sharpest haircut in town, but more importantly, a smile on their face as they shared in genuine conversation as he listened to them while cutting their hair.
Known to have always had spare cash in his possession, Tony regularly found opportunities to surprise those he knew, or at times complete strangers, with a little gift to spark their day. Many have attested to always feeling heard by him and that when they spoke to him, they felt special and that he was always truly present and willing to actively listen without judgment. True to his character, and once encouraged, he became the jokester of the party, the one who remembered details of particular events and often used those in his story-telling that engaged everyone in the room. Tony was also known for his love of his family’s Spanish culture, and enjoyed reminiscing about his travels in Spain with his father.
Tony dedicated his time and devotion to his wife, his family, and his faith. His unwavering faith and love of God was reflected in his gentle, forgiving, and compassionate demeanor. An active Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, he found solace in expressing adoration to God. This was reflected in his inquisitive nature to always want to know more about different topics and the various interpretations of God’s word. Equally so, he found interest in learning about other faiths and valued the discovery in appreciating what made them unique. He was our treasured Dad and Tata who without fail, had a funny joke in his back pocket, a “God bless you, I love you, and drive safe” message when you left him, and a constant reassurance that he was ready to talk to you when you wanted or needed.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rachel, and his dear brother, Frank. He is survived by his caring sister Dolores, and his three children; Joseph, Marcus, and Marisa (Jason) Jordan, along with his 11 grandchildren; Valerie, Victoria, Julia, Rebecca, Bella, Emmy, Nathan, Andrew, Arielle, Genevieve, and Max. We are all forever grateful for him and the genuine love, patience, and humor he shared with all. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with Rosary Prayers at 6 PM on Thursday, October 8th, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix.
