Arthur E. Romley began his eternal life on June 19, 2026, when his loving heart and strong determination could no longer sustain his earthly body. Arthur was born in Phoenix, Arizona 84 years ago. Growing up on St. Francis Place (now 1 st St), he attended St. Francis Xavier Elementary School and Brophy College Preparatory. He graduated from the University of Arizona, completing his Bachelor’s and his Law degree in six years. It was in Tucson where he met the love of his life, Kathy. They were married just shy of 40 years when Kathy passed away 18 years ago. He greatly missed her and, following in his father’s footsteps, never remarried. Arthur and Kathy leave behind three children, who miss them dearly: Phil (Brenda), Jenni Jewett (Brian), and John (Allison). He loved to take the family out for dinner, go to Mass each week, and travel in the summer. Some of the favorite travel places when the kids were young were the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and San Diego. Additionally, Arthur loved spending time with his grandchildren, Mike, Ellie, Jack, and Zeke, his step-grandchild, Justin, and his great-grandchild, Ethan. He was lovingly called Jiddo (Lebanese for grandfather). He generously organized family trips for many years when the grandchildren were growing up. Our adventures took us to San Antonio, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Seattle, Telluride, Guadeloupe, London and Ireland, Alaska (by way of a Disney Cruise), and Hawaii. These are some of the greatest family memories that we have been blessed to receive. Arthur practiced law for over 57 years until his retirement in 2023. He was admired and respected due to his hard work, tenacity, thoroughness, integrity, ability, and skill. He enjoyed The Horace Rumpole Inn of Court and developed many deep, long-lasting friendships from this respected legal community. He was even asked to be the Godfather for the child of some of these friends. Up until his retirement, he had monthly luncheons with many of his lawyer friends. His mind was very sharp, and he was feverishly working on passion projects up until the very end. His other interests included watching old movies, watching Johnny Carson reruns, watching sporting events with the family, listening to his oldies playlist on Pandora, computers and cars, family history, fine dining, and keeping up with current events. As Nat King Cole so eloquently wrote, Arthur was “Unforgettable / in every way / and forevermore / that’s how you’ll stay”. Dad, we will never forget your strong will, positive influence, and endless love and support that you gave us for our entire lives. Our family takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with the love of his life, Kathy, and that we will see him again in heaven.
