It is with profound sadness yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Bernardo M. Gomez. Born on September 13, 1954, in the sun-soaked city of Phoenix, Bernardo carried the warmth and resilience of his birthplace throughout his life’s journey, which came to a peaceful close on April 18, 2026.
Bernardo was the cherished son of Al and Anita Gomez, who predeceased him, but whose love and values continued to guide him throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in his surviving family: his devoted children, Anna, and Bernie (Maggie); his beloved grandchildren, Freddie (Amanda), Leticia (Britt), Bernie III, Ayla, Alyssa (Saul), Ava, and Alexis; his precious great- grandchildren, Miyanita, Liliana, Olyvia and Camila. Bernardo was also a pillar of strength and support to his four siblings, who will miss him dearly.
Bernardo spent much of his career as a grocery manager, a role in which he excelled not just because of his diligence and hard work, but because of the way he mentored those around him. He had the rare gift of seeing potential in others, and he found joy in guiding and encouraging his colleagues to reach their fullest potential. His impact on those he worked with was profound and enduring, and he was respected and admired by all who had the privilege to work alongside him.
Away from work, Bernardo was a man of many passions. He was never happier than when he was outdoors, surrounded by nature. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, and shoot, activities that not only brought him joy but also provided opportunities for bonding with family and friends. His love for his dogs was well-known, and they were his loyal companions on many of his adventures.
Above all, Bernardo will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family. He was always there, with a steady and comforting presence, ready to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. His kindness knew no bounds, and he never hesitated to help anyone who asked. His family fondly remembers his favorite saying, “Ain’t nothing to it but to do it,” a simple yet profound mantra that encapsulates his approach to life.
As we gather to celebrate Bernardo’s life, we find solace in the countless memories we shared with him and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
In honoring Bernardo’s memory, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness and his passion for living life to the fullest. Rest in peace, dear Bernardo, knowing you are loved beyond measure and missed beyond words.
