Legislators and constituents alike have credited her over the years with making a significant impact on the lives of individuals, youth and families.
In addition to work, Bertha was an award-winning artist and devoted her adult life to being a member of Las Damas del Valle, the oldest Latina volunteer organization in Arizona for which she was one of the earliest members.
