Blanca Jovita Rojas passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2026. spending her last few days surrounded by loved ones. She as born in Los Pozos, Michoacan, Mexico on December 16, 1938 later migrating to the town of Arteaga, Michoacan where she remained until her late teens when she came to Phoenix.
It was in Phoenix where she met Ramon who would later be her husband of 59 years. Blanca excelled in loving and caring for her family, siblings, relatives and friends. There was never a time she wasn’t ready to host a gathering and make a delicious home cooked meal for family and friends to make them feel welcomed. Blanca took this skill with her as she embarked on a long career as a Child Nutrition Specialist for Phoenix Elementary School District #1 where she worked at Ann Ott Elementary and later at the District’s Central Kitchen.
Blanca is survived by her children; Rosanna Hidalgo (Edmundo), Gabriel Rojas (Gladys), and Lucia Medina (Daniel), her 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and brothers Daniel Hernandez (Anna), Armando Hernandez (Darlene) and sisters Aida Hernandez, and Lidia Ortiz along with many nephews, nieces and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Rojas, her parents Rosaura Rodriguez and Luis Hernandez, sister Maria Luisa Hernandez, and brothers Manuel Hernandez and Luis Hernandez.
A visitation will be held from 5 - 8pm with rosary prayer at 7pm on Tuesday, May 4th at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is to be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, May 5th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
