Brooke Marie Roselle (Baldwin) was born on March 14, 1961, in Lake Forest, IL. Brooke chose Tucson, Arizona, as her hometown for more than 35 years; however, she also lived in Lake Forest, IL; Flagstaff, AZ; San Mateo, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Sierra Vista, AZ; as well as short periods in Wisconsin and Austin, TX.
Brooke passed away on August 6, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by friends and family, after struggling with various health-related issues. She never lost her will to live, give, and love. Brooke was a strong believer, and her faith in Jesus Christ—along with her love for her family and others—was her greatest strength and foundation in life.
Brooke, or “Brookie,” as she was affectionately called by many, was born to her birth mother, Paulette Baldwin (Phillips), and father, Edward F. Baldwin Sr. Paulette chose to allow Edward to raise Brooke and her brother, Bryan Baldwin, on his own. It is believed that this was not a selfish act, but rather in the best interest of Brooke and Bryan. Brooke’s aunt and uncle, George and Patricia Baldwin, of Baldwin Plastering in Lake Forest, IL, stepped in as temporary adoptive parents at that time. Without their help, the arrangement for Brooke to stay with her father would not have been possible.
Brooke and Bryan attended Deerpath Junior High School in Lake Forest, alongside many of their cousins. In 1967, Brooke’s father met Margarete Mae Schwarz of Waukegan, IL, a university student studying Home Economics and Education. They married soon after and began to grow their family. Jennifer and Edward Jr. were born, and in 1971, the Baldwin family moved to Tucson, Arizona, for the first time. Brooke was a happy helper to her mother, caring for her younger siblings. Brooke loved the Baldwin family deeply. Her nurturing qualities developed early, and it was clear her calling in life was rooted in service. She showed the same care to co-workers, neighbors, extended family, and those along her delivery route in the Tucson Mountains and Saguaro National Forest area. Her laughter, smile, and humor were gifts to all.
Brooke was raised by Margarete and Edward Baldwin in a loving, eastside suburban Tucson home with her siblings: Bryan Edward Baldwin (born 1962), Jennifer Katharine Baldwin (born 1969), and Edward Baldwin Jr. (born 1971). She spent her adolescent years in Tucson and graduated from Sahuaro High School in 1978. Brooke went on to study Forestry at Northern Arizona University, reflecting her love for nature. During college, she also discovered her lifelong passion for playing guitar and singing.
In 1980, Brooke married Michael Joseph Roselle in Tucson, and they lived in Flagstaff, where she gave birth to her two daughters, Jessica Nicole Roselle (born 1983) and Pamela Ann Roselle (born 1985), whom she loved dearly. In Flagstaff, Brooke worked for the USPS and even brought her infant daughter Jessica to work each day. She later built a long career with FedEx, transferring from Flagstaff to San Mateo, CA. Brooke and Michael eventually divorced in San Mateo before their daughters finished grade school. She then moved to Phoenix to be closer to her sister Jennifer and friends, continuing her work as a FedEx delivery driver. This job allowed her time with her children, dogs, and former partner of 25 yrs , Connie Lambert, whom she raised her daughters with. Brooke took great joy in cooking meals and caring for her family. She loved dogs, all things water-related, snow skiing, the desert, camping, boating, sports—especially the Green Bay Packers—and, most of all, quality family time. Brooke often expressed one of greatest joys she experienced in life was her grandson, Brighton Roselle.
Brooke never met a stranger. Her calling was to be a friend to all—both humans and dogs—and she lived this daily. Brooke had an enormous heart, often giving away her own food or clothing to help others in need, even if it meant personal hardship. Anyone who knew her witnessed this. Her loving, empowering, forgiving, beautiful servant heart, set her apart, inspiring her daughters to be equally compassionate and loyal. Her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the cornerstone of her life. She was part of many churches and many “families,” and she avoided labels or cliques, welcoming all who welcomed her. Brooke adored her lifelong canine companions—Dusty, Lambeau, Mobes, and Dora Jean—and spent countless hours with them. As a devoted sports fan, she followed the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Wildcats softball, whether in person or on TV.
Brooke was preceded in death by her mother, Margarete Schwarz Baldwin (March 29, 1999), and many other beloved elder relatives. She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Nicole Roselle (42) and Pamela Ann Roselle (39); her grandson, Brighton Michael Roselle (18); her friend Connie S. Lambert; her father, Edward Baldwin Sr. of Sierra Vista (87); her siblings Bryan Baldwin of Oklahoma City (63), Jennifer DeVries of Romeoville, IL (56), and Edward F. Baldwin Jr. of Austin, TX (54).
Brooke Roselle always put others before herself, a tradition her mother instilled in her. Her love for dogs and for the marginalized was evident to all who knew her. We love you and honor you Momma Bear—celebrating your life here on earth and now in Glory, you will be missed dearly.
