Dennis Brian Keogh, an Air Force veteran, accomplished marathon runner, skilled telephone lineman and nationally recognized Sean Connery tribute artist, lived an extraordinary life filled with courage, determination, humor and adventure.
Dennis was the son of Joseph and Clair Keogh of Narberth, Pennsylvania, and the third of six brothers. He was preceded in death by his brother Harry and is survived by Joseph, Paul, David and Brian.
Dennis served four years in the United States Air Force, including two years in Europe, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. After his military service, he spent approximately 30 years as a highly skilled telephone lineman, taking on difficult and dangerous assignments. He once survived a high-wire, high-voltage electrocution—an experience that would have stopped most people. Dennis simply kept going.
At age 33, Dennis took up distance running. What began relatively late in life became a remarkable 30-year passion. He completed 47 marathons across the United States, including two Pikes Peak Marathons and two Mount Evans Marathons.
Then came perhaps the most unexpected chapter of his life.
Dennis became the number-one Sean Connery tribute artist in the United States. With his remarkable resemblance to Connery, his mastery of the actor’s voice and mannerisms, his quick wit and his photographic memory, Dennis delighted audiences at corporate events and in Las Vegas. He had a special gift for making people laugh and making everyone in the room feel part of the performance.
Dennis lived in Philadelphia, New Orleans, Denver and Phoenix, and wherever he went he made friends and left memories.
He was the beloved father of Lynn Wilson and Lisa Austin and grandfather of Charlie and Sarah Wilson and Ethan and Jack Austin.
During the final and most difficult chapter of his life, Dennis was lovingly cared for and supported by his devoted life partner, Cheryl Lampson, who remained faithfully at his side throughout his long and valiant struggle with a devastating disease.
Dennis lived several lives in one. He served his country, faced danger, ran mountains, entertained thousands and brought laughter to people wherever he went.
But to his family, he was simply Dennis—a brother, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.
He ran a long race.
He ran it his way.
And he finished.
