Dexter Duggan was born on June 17, 1945 in Chattanooga, TN. Dexter loved newspapers and the print media from childhood, when he typed and drew out a "newspaper" of local goings-on and with the help of his little sister delivered copies to every front porch on the block.
Dexter worked for and later edited the Camelback High School student newspaper, and during the "tumultuous" '60s interviewed internationally known persons such of Madame Nu of Vietnam, and later rode with other young journalists on Senator Barry Goldwater's plane on campaign junkets.
Dexter was later editorial page editor of the Arizona Republic and worked as supervisor of operators at Arizona Relay (a telephone service for the deaf wherein typists listened to and transcribed the conversation on the other party's screen.)
He was back at the newspaper office in the editorial room of the Orange County Register and was there during the year when the Olympics were held in Los Angeles. The paper that year won the Pulitzer Prize for sports photography.
His last "official" job was at the investment firm "Vanguard," where he assisted customers with their accounts over the telephone.
Above all else, Dexter was a lifelong Catholic, holding his faith with unwavering strength, with his special calling as a nationwide print contributor to the pro-life cause. Well-known among pro-life persons for his well-written and insightful articles supporting the cause of life for all pre-born children, his hours-long research and early a.m. writing to meet deadlines were invisible but important parts of his calling. He "free-lanced" many articles, and finally wrote for "The Wanderer," the longest continuously-published Catholic newspaper in the United States.
In mid-December, 2025, Dexter was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer, and died on January 15, 2026 in the grace of the sacraments of Catholic Church he loved and followed so well. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
Welcome to the joy of your master."
