A member of an Arizona Pioneer family passed away peacefully, on the morning of December 10, 2025.
Diane Charlotte Stanford was the oldest daughter of Ruby and R.C. Stanford Jr, and the granddaughter of R.C. Stanford, Governor and later presiding Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court. She was born in 1937, in Phoenix, Arizona.
She graduated from North High School in Phoenix and attended and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts. Leaving Phoenix, she made her home in California for many years, and became part of the artist culture, where she had showings of her work. She was known for her "scintillating colors, creating a forceful impact on spaces" in Hollywood galleries. She specialized in abstract art, using acrylics on canvas.
When she returned to Phoenix, her paintings were shown at Art One Gallery in Scottsdale. Diane volunteered as a docent at the Arizona Capital Museum. She was a member of First Families of Arizona.
She is survived by her sisters Donna Mae Quandt of Oregon, Sandra Loeffler of Arizona, and Pamela Smith of Oregon, and by many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her loving family.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85018. Burial to follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix.
