Moncher, Donald 98, of Phoenix, Arizona, peacefully died on June 15, 2024 surrounded by his family. A devoted husband and father, he was most proud of his family and considered them his greatest blessing. He is survived by his 4 children Beth Regan (Jerry), Tim Moncher (Susie), Katie Baker (Mike), and Mary Hawes (Steve), 10 grandchildren, Amy, Billy, Andy, Ben, Matt, Adam, Carly, Chris, Samantha, and Tim, 14 great-grandchildren, Kaiya, Tim, Braelynn, Josh, Kilian, Philomena, Blaise, Sammy, Everett, Sebastian, Ellie, Stetson, Lucy, and Andy. Don was born in Bessemer, Michigan on May 11, 1926 and enjoyed a fun-packed childhood in the UP. He proudly served in the Army during WWII, in the Pacific.
Don attended Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin where he found the love of his life Bette (married 61 years), and played football, basketball, tennis, and track eventually being inducted into the Carroll College Athletic Hall of Fame alongside his son Tim. In 1961 he moved the family from the Midwest to Phoenix. He loved living in the Valley of the Sun, and enjoyed a successful business career as President of Switzer’s clothing stores.
After retirement and traveling all over the globe together, he lovingly cared for Bette through all her medical battles. He always expressed that his final goal was “a glorious reunion with Bette in that unimaginable environment, to bask in the warmth and light of God’s love forever.” Mission accomplished Dad!
