Roddy Gardner, age 86, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on August 11, 2026. He was born on October 10, 1939, in Pecos, Texas, to Arnold and Dollye Gardner.
Roddy grew up on a farm in Pecos and graduated from Pecos High School in 1958. He went on to graduate from Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University) before earning his medical degree from the Kansas City School of Osteopathic Medicine.
He became a physician at the age of 26 and spent the next 54 years caring for patients at his own practice, Priest Road Family Medical Group, where he was deeply loved by the thousands of people he served.
He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Gardner, and together they raised three children: Mitchell, Kimberly, and Lanny Gardner. To his grandchildren and most of the family he was known as Robby - the name that stuck after the little ones couldn’t quite say “Roddy.”
Roddy had an amazing sense of humor and always made everyone in the room laugh. He is survived by his children Kim and Mitchell, and his grandchildren; Nick, Mindy, Joey, Tommy, Aubrey, Carson, Hunter, and Danielle, and great-grandchildren Ava, Tommy Jr., Wesley, Dylan, and Rose.
Dr. Gardner’s Memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 23, at 12:00 p.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85018.
