Phoenix

Edward "Ed" Wickersham Dietrich, 83, died peacefully at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, on November 4, 2026. He was born on June 14, 1943, at Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, New York. He grew up on Woodchuck Hill Road in DeWitt, where he played in the woods, gardened beside his father, and sang in the church choir.

Ed's life was filled with music, faith, and the game of golf. He played saxophone, sang with the Swing Sixteen in high school and the Colgate 13 at Colgate University, and loved hymns, Handel's Messiah, and the Eagles. At Colgate, he was a proud member of Delta Upsilon fraternity and had the honor of serving as the Colgate Red Raider mascot. His deep connection to the university gave him many lifelong, close friends.

A neighbor first put a golf club in his hands as a boy. It became a lifelong love and a big part of his work and friendships. He built a career as an attorney and was an entrepreneur at heart. He finished his career working several years with the Arizona State Land Department. He was a great cook, famous in his family for his homemade spaghetti sauce, and he loved a good Christmas dinner, travel, and time near the ocean.

Above all, Ed was a man of faith who wanted to be remembered as a good man who treated others kindly. He loved God, kept a strong faith, and loved his family immensely.

Ed is survived by his wife, Ann Fischer Dietrich. He is also survived by his children, Zachary Dietrich, Alexa Dietrich, Elizabeth Dietrich Lowy, and Edward Matthew Dietrich. His stepchildren, Cary Reddell, Elizabeth Fischer, and Katherine Fischer, also survive him.
