Francis Dombrowski

Francis “Sonny” Dombrowski, 88, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away May 21, 2026.

Sonny was born February 12, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Frank and Rose Dombrowski. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit and served in the United States Army stationed in Germany — famously sharing stories of being there with Elvis Presley. In 1970 he moved his family to Arizona and co‑founded Copperstate Cabinet Company, a pillar of the contracting industry for more than 50 years; his son Timothy led the company from 2006 to 2023.

A man of deep Christian faith and in the spirit of service, Sonny was also an active member of the Scottsdale Charros, serving since 1979. He was the Charro Spring Training Baseball Chairman in 1983. He also supported the Boys and Girls Club. He loved coaching youth sports, speed skating, snow skiing with his family, and golfing with his wife and friends at their place in Pinetop Country Club. Above all, he was a devoted family man—kind, generous and fiercely loyal to his wife and children.

He is survived by his children Richard Francis Dombrowski (Heidi; grandchildren Jeremy and Jennica), Mark Chester Dombrowski (Kathy; grandchildren Cole and Brynn), Timothy Arthur Dombrowski (Heidi; grandchildren Justin (Sam; great‑grandson Wade) and Faith Middendorf (Erik)). He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Rose Dombrowski; his wife of 65 years, Judith Anne Furstenberg; daughter Dawn; daughter‑in‑law Denise; and sisters Kathleen and Patricia.

Funeral services will be held at Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 East McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley, Arizona, at 10:30 in the morning. A lunch celebration will follow at 11:30 in the morning at McCormick Ranch Golf Club Pavilion, 7505 East McCormick Parkway, Scottsdale, Arizona 85258.
