In Loving Memory of Gary A. Gardner (1951 – 2023)


Gary A. Gardner, aged 72, born in Kingman, Arizona passed away peacefully on November 9th in Phoenix, Arizona after a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease over the last four years. He touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy Gardner, who stood by his side through thick and thin, offering unwavering love and support. He is also survived by his loving son, Matthew, and his cherished grandson, Mason, who brought immense joy to his life.

In addition to his immediate family, Gary is mourned by his brother, Daryl Gardner (Jane), his brother in-law Don Barcello and life-long friend, Art Webb.

Gary had a special place in his heart for his loyal canine companions, Coco and Hank, who were more than just pets; they were his faithful friends, offering comfort and companionship.

Gary’s life was characterized by his warmth, humor, and love for those around him. He never met a stranger. He had a remarkable ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face, and his kindness left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

Although Gary’s battle with Alzheimer’s was a challenging one, he faced it with dignity and resilience. His legacy will continue to shine through the memories of the good times he shared with family and friends and neighbors.

In honoring Gary’s memory, let us remember the love and joy he brought to our lives and the strength he showed in the face of adversity. As we say our goodbyes, we celebrate the man who touched our hearts and made the world a better place.

A memorial service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 15th at 9am at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E Indian School Rd, followed by St. Francis Cemetery at 2033 N 48th Street.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in Gary’s name.
