George L. Sermeño 63, from Phoenix AZ passed away at his job site on Oct 14th 2025. Born to Richard C. Sermeño and Aurelia G Sermeño on Nov 30 1961. George was known for his beautiful, charming smile and his very well creased shirts and jeans along with his unique “suave walk”. ‘Who could forget that! ...All while being his genuine self in every way.
George attended Long Fellow Edison and Phoenix Union High School before joining the Army. He was at Fort Jackson South Carolina from 1982 to 1984; then he was in the National Guard from 1984 to1988 at which time he was Honorably discharged.
George loved his family and children even when battling his own mental health, he was warming, loving and a very hardworking man until the very end. George never expected or wanted any handouts he worked literally till his last breath! That speaks on the kind of person he was and how he will forever be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. Sermeño and Aurelia M. Sermeño; brothers, Manuel Escoto and Frank Sermeño. George is survived by his three children, George Ernesto Sermeño, Anthony Joseph Sermeño and Cecilia Sermeño; his beautiful grandchildren, Christopher Garcia Jr., Alma O. Sermeño, Aria O. Sermeño, Elijah G. Tena, Amelia A.Tena,and his siblings, Annmare, Christina, Vivian, Peter, Ernest, Anthony and Angelique.
A Viewing will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day, Friday, November 14, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 N. 24th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008.
