Gerald "Jerry" Koger, (74) beloved husband, brother, uncle, musician, and friend, passed away on April 2nd surrounded by love.
Known for his quick wit, humor, and charm, Jerry brought laughter and warmth to those around him. Beneath his jokes was a deeply kind and loving soul who cared fiercely for his family and friends.
Jerry shared 43 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Carol. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and travel.
He began his career as a disc jockey in Phoenix and Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked at 550 KENI, before transitioning into information technology. Over the years, he worked as a programmer, database administrator, and IT manager, retiring from IBM in 2013.
Music was Jerry’s greatest passion. He built his own studio and spent countless hours playing and recording. Alongside his friend Nick, he recorded over 175 songs, many inspired by The Beatles. He also loved writing music with his niece, and was always her biggest encourager.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Gerald T. & Jo Ann Koger and his sister, Janice. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his siblings Jeffery and Jonathan and his nieces and nephews Ebony, Galen, Kyla, Robin, Shannan, Michael and Kevin; and many loved ones.
He will be remembered for his laughter, his music, and the love he shared so freely.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home 4800 E. Indian School Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85018
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul in Jerry’s memory.
