Gregory David Simpson

December 31, 1978 — November 2, 2025

Gregory David Simpson, 46, passed away on November 2, 2025, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Born on December 31, 1978, in Syracuse, New York, Greg lived a life shaped by athletic achievement, family devotion, and a new found appreciation for the outdoors.

Greg spent his formative years in Columbus, Ohio and attended Dublin Scioto High School, where he excelled in athletics. He earned all-state honors in football, wrestling, and lacrosse—a testament to his dedication and competitive spirit. He was a huge part of two state championships while at Dublin Scioto. The 1995 Division II state championship football team and the 1997 Division II state championship lacrosse team. He was also a high school All American in football (1996). Greg continued his academic and athletic pursuits at The Ohio State University where he played defensive back from 1997-99 and later at MidAmerica Nazarene University where he played running back. As a running back, he earned All American honors in 2001 & 2003. In 2003, he also earned his degree from MNU in communications.

A lifelong advocate for physical fitness and competition, Greg’s passion extended beyond organized sports. After relocating to Arizona, he embraced the natural beauty of the region, often hiking its rugged trails and exploring the desert landscapes that brought him peace and fulfillment. His trips out to the Red Rocks of Sedona were his favorites.

Greg was a man of faith who worshipped within a non-denominational Christian community. He lived his beliefs with quiet strength and humility, offering support and kindness to those around him.

He was the beloved son of Cindy Mariano Simpson and the late Frank Milton Simpson; a devoted brother to Brian M. Simpson; and a proud uncle to Tatum B. Simpson. His presence brought warmth to family gatherings and left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know him.

An intimate celebration of Greg’s life was held in Scottsdale, Arizona by family.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire strength and perseverance.
