Margaret Catherine “Maggie” Haley

Margaret Catherine “Maggie” Haley passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Maggie was born on October 31st, 1930, in New York City. She married Vincent J. Haley, an attorney, also from New York City. They were the proud parents of six loving children. They were married for an amazing 45 years and lived life to the fullest. Maggie worked as senior secretary to the President of General Electric straight out of high school and was voted Ms. Rockaway Beach back in the early 1950’s. She was a real beauty. Maggie was full of life, a real spitfire, who embraced each morning as a new opportunity. After raising her family, she started working at Coldwell Banker as a realtor. She had a highly successful career with them for over 15 years. She was honored with numerous awards for consistently being a top producer. She rocked.

A woman born in the 1930’s, she demonstrated self-confidence, empowerment, a love for books and a positive outlook on life. She showed us strength, love and resolve. Her secret to a long life, she would tell you, is to be grateful for what you have, work towards something and give it your best shot. No idleness. She was a total New York gal, she loved dressing well, a real fashionista, and she always wore high heels. She wore high heels during her pregnancies and even wore high heeled sneakers to the gym. No flats for this New Yorker. She would also recommend a good stiff drink every night, preferably a Manhattan.

Maggie’s life was a full one and she is forever in the hearts of her children; Laura Bley of Fort Worth, TX, Daniel Haley (Dawn) of St. Michaels, MD; Brenda Sena of Algarve, Portugal; Tara Mayole (Frank) of Phoenix, AZ; Dr. Mark Haley (Elizabeth) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Shawna Thompson (John) of Navarre, FL. Her granddaughters; Jennifer Sweeny (Andrew) of Fort Worth, TX; her beloved and namesakes Maggie Mayole of Phoenix, AZ and Margaret Thompson of Baltimore, MD, two more unexpected lights of her life, granddaughters Dylan Haley and Hattie Haley of Phoenix, AZ. She was additionally blessed by having two great grandchildren; Haley Sweeny and Drew Sweeny of Fort Worth, TX. Maggie is survived by her younger brother, Eugene Kelly (Barrie) of New York, NY.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent J Haley, her two brothers; Thomas Kelly and John Kelly, and her son-in- law, Milton Bley.

So please raise a glass in toasting a mother’s love. A love that is enduring, a love that is part of your soul. A mother’s love is never gone, you can find it in all the little things, just open your eyes and you will see, she is all around you! We miss you already, Mom.

Margaret Catherine Haley, we will see you on the other side. Where the sea meets the sky, where the sky meets the stars and where the stars meet the heavens.
