Phoenix

Helen Glenn Cook, 79, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026.

Helen was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, to Arthur Lee Glenn and Wilma R. Glenn. She grew up in Pennsylvania and attended the Westmoreland Hospital School of Nursing, where she became a registered nurse. She married Richard P. Cook, and together they raised two sons, Jonathan and Jeremy, whom she loved fiercely.

Nursing was more than a career for Helen; it was a calling and an important part of who she was. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to caring for others, serving in a variety of nursing roles and healthcare settings. Her compassion, strong work ethic, and natural ability to connect with people made her a valued colleague and a comforting presence to those in her care. Her years of dedication and experience led her to become Assistant Director of Nursing at Life Care Center of North Glendale, where she served until her retirement. Even beyond her professional career, Helen carried the heart of a nurse, always ready to offer kindness, comfort, and a helping hand.

Helen was a sports fan through and through. She grew up cheering for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. When she made her home in Arizona, she took the Diamondbacks, Cardinals, Coyotes, Sting, and Rattlers into her heart as well. Her devotion went far beyond the stands at home. She followed her teams around the world, traveling to Australia, London, and the Czech Republic to cheer them on.

Anyone who knew Helen would tell you about her kind, generous, and free spirit. She was always happy and outgoing, and she was the very picture of a genuinely kind human being. She loved board games and card games, prized her independence, and lived life to the fullest.

Helen is survived by her sons, Jonathan David Cook (Shera) and Jeremy Paul Cook (Andrea); her granddaughters, Lillian and Abigail; her beloved bonus grandchildren, Gregory, Ellie, Mia, and Jeremiah; and her sister, Marylee McGregor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Wilma Glenn.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2026, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85018. In honor of Helen, the family asks guests to wear their favorite sports team's jersey or shirt (No Dastardly Dodgers Allowed!).
