Herlinda Gastelum Peralta

Herlinda Gastelum Peralta, lovingly known as Nanita, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at the age of 104, celebrating a long, full, and remarkable life. She left this world naturally, without pain, and surrounded by her loved ones. Herlinda lived 104 years marked by strength, faith, and purpose. She was a hardworking woman with a strong spirit who believed in responsibility, perseverance, and always showing up for family. Her presence brought stability, guidance, and reassurance, and her life was one of quiet leadership and lasting impact. She was lovingly cared for in her own home by her two children until her last breath, a true reflection of the love, devotion, and bond she shared with her family. Herlinda proudly supported her children and played an important role in raising her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Few are blessed to see their legacy span so many generations, and Nanita did just that. Herlinda was deeply loved by her family and by friends of the family for decades. Her stories, wisdom, strength, and courage continue to be shared, bringing smiles, gratitude, and pride to all who remember her.

She is survived by her children, Rosa Verdugo and Joaquin “Chacho” Gastelum; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and great great great grandchildren; and her sister, Josefina Dickes.

At 104 years strong, Nanita’s life is one to be celebrated. Her legacy lives on through the many generations she helped shape, and her presence will always be remembered with love and gratitude.

On Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. a visitation will be held with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service is to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Phoenix.
