Irene B. Ferguson

Irene B. Ferguson, 87, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in Glendale, Arizona on April 14, 2026. She was born on May 22, 1938 in Safford, Arizona. She graduated from Safford High School in 1956 and moved out to East Los Angeles, California shortly after graduation in 1957. She moved back to the Phoenix, Arizona area in 1970 and worked for Salt River project and retired in 1999. She settled in Glendale, Arizona where she lived out the remainder of her life.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Lupe Sanchez of Pico Rivera, CA (1992), Juan Bertoldo of Atascadero, CA (2001), Arturo Bertoldo of Mesa, AZ (2001), Priscilla Avila of Tucson, AZ (2010), Pete Bertoldo of Tucson, AZ (2011), Celia DeLeon of Pomona, CA (2012), Rosie Garcia of Tucson, AZ (2021), and Manuel Bertoldo of Safford, AZ (2021). She is survived by her sister Sylvia Blake of Reno, NV, her son Andrew Gerbig and daughter Teresa Ferguson and her grandchildren Mindy Vidales, Daniel Gerbig, Taylor Ferguson and Tatum Ferguson and great-grandchild Emma Ferguson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Irene will be celebrated on Thursday morning April 23, 2026, at 9:30 AM., at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church located at 2312 E Campbell Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85016. Interment will follow after the mass at St. Francis Cemetery, located at 2033 N 48th St, in Phoenix, AZ 85008. The family encourages any donations may be made to Alzheimers Foundation of America at alzfdn.org in hopes of assisting those in need.
