James Gregory (Jim) Lammy, 69, of Paradise Valley, AZ, passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2025.
Jim was born on February 16, 1956, in Evanston, IL, to Sally Lammy Roberts and the late Jack E. Lammy. He grew up in Battle Creek, MI, and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1974. He later attended Scottsdale Community College, where he built lasting friendships and created memories that stayed with him throughout his life.
A natural leader and visionary, Jim went on to found Southwest Conference Planners, where he served as president until his passing. Through his work, he brought people together, created meaningful experiences, and left a lasting impact on an industry he truly loved.
Family was at the heart of Jim’s life. He is survived by his devoted mother, Sally Roberts of Battle Creek, MI; his brother, Edward Lammy (Jo Marie) of Danville, KY; and his sister, Susan Keniston (David) of Battle Creek, MI. He was a proud and loving uncle to Hannah Peace (Jeremy) of Lexington, KY; Sarah Reynolds (David) of Bowling Green, KY; Nathan Keniston (Ali) of Portage, MI; and Jack Lammy of Danville, KY. He also cherished his niece, Kelly Keniston of Rock Hill, SC. Jim found great joy in his eight great-nieces and nephews—Ani, Evan, Liza, Joey Mae, Georgia Mae, Freddie, Teddy, and Harrison—each of whom held a special place in his heart. To them, Jim was more than an uncle—he was the fun guy at every family gathering.
Jim will be remembered for his warmth, quick wit, generous spirit, and the way he made others feel welcomed and valued. He had a rare gift for connecting with people, both in business and in everyday life. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A sunset celebration of Jim’s life will be held on October 19, 2025, 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Camelback Inn Resort in Scottsdale, AZ, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and share stories of the laughter and joy he brought into their lives.
He will be laid to rest at a memorial service on November 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Battle Creek Memorial Park in Battle Creek, MI.
