Jeanette Daisy Aurit (Amundson, Rainey, Johnson) was born on October 7, 1935 and left this earth for higher ground on October 2, 2026, just five days before her 91st birthday. She was a master potter and won several blue ribbons at the Arizona County Fair. She had a magical green thumb and plants thrived under her care. She loved gardening and provided year-round fruit and vegetables for the family. Jeanette was a fantastic cook, baker, and candy maker, a talented seamstress who created clothing for her children when they were young; designed and made prom and wedding dresses for all of her daughters and their friends. She created thousands of Christmas decorations for all her children and grandchildren. She made baby blankets, aprons, Raggedy Ann and Andy’s, quilts and comforters. She was a talented artist. Jeanette was a complex woman; intelligent, artistically gifted, strong, stubborn, a master organizer, and project manager. She was a bit of a recluse.

She was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Pauline Mae (Javers) Aurit fondly called Pearl and George Edward Aurit. Jeanette is one of 11 children to Pearl and George; Shirley, Anges (deceased), Jeanette (now deceased), George (deceased), Audrey, Dale, Mary (deceased), Paul (deceased), Lynn, Connie, and Joe.

Before joining the workforce, Jeanette raised five Children; Sharon Amundson Peters, Stephen Amundson, Chris Amundson, Pauline Amundson Bowers, Rachelle Amundson Ohton. All children survive her. If you ask anyone of her children to name the one thing she gave to each of them, they would unanimously state “competence!” She taught them life skills, work skills, and construction skills. Jeanette has 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She returned to education later in life and received her associate in arts degree from Glendale Community College in 1980, she graduated Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Arts from Ottawa University in 1986 and her Master of Arts from Ottawa University in 1989. When Jeanette joined the workforce, she became a licensed independent substance abuse counselor (LISAC). She worked for the Chapter Hospital 24-Hour Crisis Center, the Arizona Child Protective Services, and Cummings & Associates Counseling Center as an Alcohol and Drug Specialist.

Jeanette also built a successful business and owned and operated Fern & Daisy’s Gift and Candy Boutique in Globe and Chandler, Arizona for many years where she sold unique boutique items and her home-made fudge, divinity, and penuchi. Incredible achievements for a woman who had to re-invent herself after 26 years of marriage and family!

Later in life, home was her haven. She ventured out very little. She kept sewing and gardening until just a few years ago.

She offered much to the world and will be missed greatly.
