Jesus Granado Levario, 86, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026. Born on July 29, 1939, in Pecos, Texas, Jesus was the beloved son of Juan Levario and Olivia Granado. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who built a life defined by honor, perseverance, service, and an unwavering love for his family.
Jesus proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 3rd Infantry Division from February 3, 1959, to February 26, 1961. During his military service, he was stationed in southern Germany. After completing his service, he continued his pursuit of education, earning an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Maricopa Community College. This achievement made him the first member of his family to earn a college degree, setting an example of determination that inspired generations to follow.
Following graduation, Jesus began a distinguished 30-year career as a security professional with Maricopa Community Colleges. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication to serving others.
Outside of work, Jesus found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved gathering with family and friends to play dominoes to enjoyed trips to the casino. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. He will be remembered for his unwavering strength, warm sense of humor, generous heart, and the steady presence that brought comfort to everyone around him.
He is survived by his wife, Susana Levario; his brother, Gilbert Levario Sr.; his children, Lena Hayes, Michael Levario, Olivia Levario, and Jesus Levario Jr.; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Jesus was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Levario; his brothers, Ysidro Levario and Trini Levario; and his sisters, Manuela Valdez, Carolina Rubio, Maria Chavez, and Consuelo Diaz.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85016. Family and friends will then accompany Jesus to his final resting place at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jesus's life following the procession to his final resting place at 1:00 p.m. at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 720, 4853 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018. This gathering will provide an opportunity to share memories, celebrate his life, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
Flowers are welcome and may be sent to the funeral home or placed at the gravesite.
Jesus lived a life marked by faith, service, hard work, and an enduring love for his family. His legacy lives on through the generations he inspired, the values he instilled, and the countless memories shared with those who loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
May he rest in eternal peace.
