Joe Dean Hartley
April 15, 1944 – August 27, 2025
Joe Dean Hartley, age 81, passed away from complications following surgery. He was surrounded by loved ones. Joe was born on April 15, 1944, to Mary and Jess Hartley and was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served honorably and achieved the rank of Sergeant.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Jess; his sisters, Patsy and Mary Lou; and his brother, Teddy.
He is survived by his son, Matthew; his sisters, Nancy and Jessie Lee; his brothers, Tom and Roy; and his devoted partner, Nancy. Joe deeply valued his family and the lifelong bonds he shared with them.
After serving his country, Joe dedicated his working years to Coors Brewing Company, Swaco Oil, and eventually Dream City Church, where he served as Manager of the Grounds Department. At the church, everyone knew Joe—he fostered lifelong friendships and was deeply respected by the congregation. Even during everyday outings, Joe was often recognized and greeted by church members and their now-grown children. Landscaping remained a lifelong passion that he enjoyed well into retirement.
Joe was known throughout his community not just for his talents, but for his heart. He was always willing to lend a hand—helping neighbors with grocery shopping, repairing homes, fixing plumbing, roofing, or assisting with moves. He gave generously of his time and friendship, and his quiet acts of service left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was a lifelong fisherman who also enjoyed trips to the casino, playing bingo and other games. More than anything, Joe cherished time spent with friends and family. He shared a strong bond with his son, Matthew, and remained closely connected to his brothers, sisters, and their families throughout his life. He was Baptist by faith and lived out his beliefs through kindness, humility, and service.
Joe’s legacy of generosity, resilience, and devotion lives on in those who knew and loved him.
